Dear All,
To tell the truth, I am not a great believer in on-line petitions, as so often they don’t (most unfortunately) lead to anything. Or, at least, don’t lead to much. But in this particular case I would like to ask each and every one of you to spare a moment to read, think, and hopefully sign this petition urging the UN to protect translators and interpreters worldwide.
This is a demanding profession. It takes a lot of training, a lot of daily hard work. And it’s beautiful and exciting. We may complain, but we love it. But sometimes interpreters and translators have to work in conditions where their very life is put in grave danger. And I believe it is only right that these brave men and women be protected internationally.
