Hello everyone,
This is my very first post on WordPress, and I believe an introduction is in order.
My name is Tatiana, and I’ve been working as a freelance interpreter and translator for a few years now. For those of you not from the world of interpreting and translation, these are actually two different things. Yes, I know it can be confusing. To make things even more so, let me quote LanguageScientific : “the interpreter translates orally, while a translator interprets written text”. But for those of you who know the difference it is perhaps the fact that I do both that may come as a surprise.
As I’ve said, interpreting and translation are very different. They take different skills, different attitudes, different training. No arguing with that. But I can assure you that I sincerely love both, and that’s why I’ve been trying to juggle them these past few years.
I work with Russian, English, and French, and a few years ago I made the fatal mistake of trying to learn Spanish and Italian at the same time. Why fatal? I fell in love with both, and succeeded in neither. But I’m working on that.
I love traveling, and exploring new cultures, views, and attitudes, and I look forward to sharing my ideas (on both interpreting and translation) with you.
So I hope you enjoy my blog,
And don’t hesitate to comment or get in touch.
